love is our resistance

After months and months of waiting, after crying when successfully applying for tickets, last night was truly incredible. Those that know me will know that I am obsessed with Muse, and my third time seeing them last night was easily the best time of my life.

Without zoom - I was this close!
After queuing from 11.30am (I know, I'm mad, right?), I managed to get second row in the standing area. Let's face it, who wants to be crushed against the barrier when the mosh pits started? The epic Unsustainable was the opener, with the slightly-scary robotic voice filling the arena, only just to be heard over the screams of the crowd. Out popped Matt Bellamy, wearing a very MJ-esque jacket, along with Dom and Chris. Squealing ensued. For most of the gig I was about 2 metres from the frontman, even managing to touch his hand when he came down into the crowd!

Highlights for me were 'Map of the Problematique', possibly my favourite song ever, and 'Panic Station', a new experimental funk track off their #1 album 'The 2nd Law'. Old classics such as 'Plug in Baby' and 'New Born' sent the crowd wild - that's when the moshing began! The visuals on the ginormous pyramid above the stage were also amazing, particularly Dom dressed as a ninja fighting off enemies with his drumsticks during Uprising!

I emerged from the arena at the end limping due to an injured knee (no thanks to the guy who pulled me over during the last song!) and a lost voice due to screaming the words at the top of my voice. Even today, it is painful to breathe from being crushed for a majority of the gig. But it was sooo worth it!
